Temperature Probes, Sensors and Components

A Temperature Probe or Temperature Sensors detects and measures the heat and or coolness of an object or environment (air, gas, liquid, flame, solid) and used to monitor or control temperature.

Some of the most utilized temperature probes are as follows.

  • Thermocouples - provide a very wide temperature range -454°F to 4,200°F (-270 to 2315°C), they can be larger rugged designs or micro sized to provide fast response and precision placement.
  • RTD (Resistance Temperature Device) -typically have a temperature range of -320F to 1,562 F  (-196 to 850 C). The utilization of RTD probes is significantly increasing due to thier high level of accuracy, stability and being interchangable.
  • Infrared Temperature Measurement provides fast non contact temperture measurement and growing use of thermal imaging has increased the overall utilization
  • Thermistors are know for high accuracy in narrow temperture ranges and economically priced in high quantities
