Type B Thermocouple Extension Wire

Type B Thermocouple Extension Wire

Type B Thermocouple Extension Wire is designed to extend/transfer the thermocouple signal from B Type Thermocouple probes or sensors to Instrumentation.

  • Type B Extension Wire is Copper Maganese (or Copper) for the Positive and Copper for the Negative. The wire it is not made from Platinum Phodium thermocouple materials.
  • Functional Temperature Range of the extension wire is 32 to 212°F (0 to 100°C)
    • Maximum temperature of the extension wire can result in a deviation of +0°F to minus 6.7°F (+0°C to minus 3.7°C) with the Type B thermocouple probes at tempertures greater than 1832°F (1000°C).
    • When the extension wire is used in a range of 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 50°C) no significant deviation results
  • Insulations on the Type B thermocouple extension wire is typically PVC (220°F or 105°C) FEP or PFA fluoropolymers (400 to 500°F or 200 to 260°C) and Fiberglass Braid (900°F or 482°C)
  • Color Code - ANSI is positive wire Grey, negative wire Red with a Grey overall jacket.
      • Alternate color codes is postive wire Black, negative wire Red with White overall jacket.
      • Or positive White, negative Red with White jacket.
