Type K Thermocouple - Items tagged as "Scass-020u-12"
A Type K Thermocouple is one of most utilized temperature sensor technologies across the globe due to its wide temperature range -326 to 2300°F (-200 to 1260°C), the ease of use and cost value. Type K thermocouples can be found in very diverse applications from harsh industrial and machinery environments to precise research and laboratory applications to general temperature measurement including everyday consumer use.
- Temperature Range of -326 to 2300°F (-200 to 1260°C)
- Below 32°F (0°C) requires a special matching of the positive Nickel Chrome KP and negative Nickel Aluminum KN thermocouple alloys is required to provide acceptable accuracy.
- Maximum continuous temperature is about 2,000°F (1,100°C) although can function at higher temperatures with special sheathing, high purity insulation and precise manufacturing methods
- Type K should not be used in reducing atmospheres unless protected by an appropriate protective sheath
- Sensor contructions range from exposed fast response small diameters to larger diameters with special protective sheaths and others designed for surface measurement.
- The Type K bare thermocouple elements can protected by compacted mineral insulation inside a bendable metal and rigid ceramic sheaths to very flexible fiberglass braid and PFA/FEP teflon insulated wire designs.
