Type U is the designation indicating the metal contact pins in connectors or lead wire are uncompensated (both the positive and negative is copper) and not thermocouple alloys. Type U can utilized with the following

• Type B Thermocouples
• RTD temperature sensors and Thermistors. 
• Type U Connectors and Wire can also be universal solution for the all thermocouple types if your application does not have a temperature variation from one side of the connector or wire to the other side.

• Instrumentation such as handheld thermometers, datalogger and controllers with the ability to accept mutiple thermocouple calibration inputs and ot RTD and Thermistors have Type U connectors or wire terminal contacts.
