Shielded Thermocouples

Thermocouples generate a very low voltage (millivolt) signal and this output can be subceptible to EMI (electro-magnetic interference) from electric power sources, motors, generators and other industrial or scientific equipment.

Shielded Thermocouples with a 3 Pin Thermocouple Connector and or Twisted Shielded Thermocouple Wire Leads can significantly improve the signal integrity and ensure more consistant temperature readings in an electrically noisy environment  

• Twisted and Shielded thermocouple wire provides a high level of EMI protection. The 2 single wires are individually insulated with FEP/PFA fluoropolymer plastic and twisted together with a bare ground wire. The thermocouple pair and ground wire are wrapped with aluminum mylar tape and covered with an overall jacket of FEP/PFA.
  • The design provides both a shield and ground path for potential electrical interference.
• 3 Pin Thermocouple Connectors and extension cable assemblies continue the electromagnetic interference protection of the wiring circuit by matching the thermocouple alloy contacts to the thermocouple wire and providing isolated and secure connection for the ground wire.  
• Metal Overbraided thermocouple wire can provide some EMI protection with the interwoven stainless steel metal braid having some conductivity and acting as a ground-path barrier.
