Thermocouple Extension Wire carries the thermocouple signal from the sensors to the measuring instrument. The bare wire utilizes similar alloy materials as the thermocouple sensors themselves although this extension grade wire has less accuracy and a much narrower temperature range.

• Temperature Range for the accurate transfer of the signal from the bare wire is ambient to approx. 400°F (200°C)
• Extension Wire should not be utilized to create the thermocouple signal, the output will result in inaccurate readings
• Matching the extension wire to the thermocouple type is required for accurate transfer of the signal. For example Type K extension wire to Type K thermocouple probes. 
• Platinum Rhoduim (Type B, R, and S) and Tungsten Rhenium (Type C) Extension Wire is not made from thermocouple alloys due to high cost, these extension wires are made from a specific match of compensating materials
