Thermocouple Sensors - Items tagged as "Ceramic-insulated-thermocouples"
Thermocouple Sensors are temperature measurement sensors used extensively throughout science, industry and research. These sensors have a very wide temperature range of -454°F to 4,200°F (-270 to 2315°C), diameters and durability ranging from very small fast response (Micro) design to large (Rugged) constructions. They are easy to use and accuracy can be 1 to 2 degrees depending on the design and temperatures being measured.
The core design of thermocouple sensors is 2 different specially selected metal alloys, in a wire or flat strip joined together at one end to create a junction (electrical connection). A change in temperature at this junction results in the wires creating a very small voltage (millivolt) signal. The voltage is measured and compared to specific temperatures and type of thermocouple types utilized.
- Thermocouple Sensors are commonly available in 9 Different types (J, K, T, E, R, S, B, C and N) alloy configurations and with the utilization of these different design the full temperature range of thermocouples can be achieved;
- 8 other types of thermocouple alloys are available for very specific capabilities or applications. Such as extreme temperature tungsten rhenium alloys (D and G) or Type P (Plantinel II to mimic type K at higher temperature with enhanced corrosion resistance) along with other combinations made with Gold, Platinum, Iridium, Rhodium and other Nobel metal combinations
- Temperature Measurement range from Sub-Zero -454°F (-270°F) to extreme High temperatures of 4,200°F (2315°C)
- Diameters range from Very Fine .003" (40 gage) with fast response to Large .128" (8 gage) very durable are commonly used, although smaller and larger diameters or thickness are utilized in specific applications.
